From the Board of Trustees and myself, I would like to welcome you to Firth Primary School. I have had the privilege of leading a wonderful team of staff and children in a school that is very special to me. I grew up in Matamata and attended Firth as a five year old. I attended all of my primary schooling here, and although Firth and education has changed a lot in the last 30 plus years, Firth remains a fabulous place to be with a modern learning environment for children of today.
We are a U4 State Contributing School for students from year 0-6. Whilst most of our children come from the local school neighbourhood, we do have children that travel by bus from outlying rural areas. We currently enjoy teaching and learning with 240 wonderful children. We celebrate our biculturalism with Maori language and tikanga programs and Kapahaka.
The school operates an ‘open door’ policy and we strongly believe in a close working partnership with our parents, whanau and community. We offer many learning opportunities in the areas of academics, sporting, cultural and social.
Our school mission of ‘E tipu e rea - To grow and flourish’ is provided for by our strong emphasis on our Firth Family Values. If you are considering making Firth your school of choice, please feel free to arrange a visit. We are extremely proud of our school and will be only too happy to show you around.
I look forward to meeting you.If you have made Firth your choice, I am sure your family's association with our school will be both enjoyable and rewarding.
We all look forward to working alongside you and providing your learners with the best we can offer, so your child can be the best that they can be.
